Galleries

My Galleries center on my primary areas of interest – the Man Built Environment and the Natural Environment. I find continuous inspiration and stimulation in both environments on a daily basis. I know that I see beauty and excitement and other things in the environment that surrounds us and that most other people do not see. This knowledge compels me to share the discoveries that I encounter with my viewers. Each of the Galleries, then, is a Reflection of my journey in the exploration of the environment that we all share and live within and is a presentation of what I have encountered along my pathway.

Art Deco - Got Coke?
  • Art Deco - Got Coke?
  • Art Deco design was a design movement of the 1920’s and 1930’s that was popular throughout Europe and, then, in this country. It's design impact was more than just an Architectural movement and it influenced furniture, jewelry, sculpture and even household accessories. The design style incorporated a vigorous and stylized use of geometry, a romantic approach to graphic presentation and freedom from symmetry and classicism. The Art Deco style continues to this day to influence designers and our culture in many ways. The Indianapolis Coca Cola Bottling Plant is a prime example of Art Deco Design in Architecture.

Power Flowers
  • Power Flowers
  • Flowers…..beautiful, beautiful flowers are everywhere one looks. Flowers bring to us so much pleasure to look at, to grow in our gardens at our homes, to smell their sweet fragrances and to give to each other as presents and, even, as apologies. But when we look closer at flowers we begin to see their uniqueness and their strength of design and detail. The Power Flowers Gallery is an exploration of flowers in detail.

Reflection's Favorites
  • Reflection's Favorites
  • Like everyone else I have my favorite things that I prize above others. It is a bit difficult to say that I have favorite images, when all of my images are personal to me and have meanings to me that the viewer might not perceive or even know about. But, of course, I do have favorite images. Most of my favorites have been treasured from the moment I first viewed their finished photographs and my value of them has not diminished over time. There are also a few in this collection that are "new" favorites.

Architectural Elements
  • Architectural Elements
  • Architecture has always been one of my favorite photographic subjects. That is not hard to grasp, as I am both Photographer and an Architect. I see much in the built environment that intrigues me and that is photogenic. Most of these subjects are what I call cameos or just a small part of a building. But within that small view I may see a complete subject that may express a design element such as rhythm, balance, harmony or delight. Or perhaps I will see discord or distress that stimulate my visual senses and compel me to share that moment in time and that visual event with my viewers. These cameo views speak out to me; I cannot walk by them and leave them unrecorded.

Garden Flowers
  • Garden Flowers
  • Mother Nature (or Father Nature?) has given us so much to admire and study that we can spend our lifetimes doing so. Flowers are a part of that gift and are rich in patterns and vibrant colors that make wonderful photographic images. I particularly enjoy working in close up views with flowers, in that one sees so much of the structure of the flower from which the flower's beauty flows.

Cold Weather
  • Cold Weather
  • Wonderful things happen in our world when the temperature drops well below the freezing level. Particularly if you are close to a water source. But to enjoy these events and capture them on film, you have to be there and be prepared. Most of the images in this Gallery were taken at, or close to, sunrise with temperatures at about -5 degrees. Burr. Still, cold weather is easier to deal with than very hot weather - right?

Architectural Details
  • Architectural Details
  • Architecture is composed of many small elements woven together to form the larger design. But the designer usually does not work from the small elements to the large design; the designer normally works the other way, from the large design backwards to the small design elements. That way, the overall design is more easily controlled. Ah, but then when one finally gets to the detailed elements, then, you can (sometimes) really have fun and be creative.

Classic Cars
  • Classic Cars
  • I grew up in Detroit when it was know as "Motown", building hotrods and doing custom car body work. I've driven a dragster and I've chopped and sectioned a '34 Chevy. It's a bit of an odd background for a photographer. I've never been able to shed my love and appreciation for automobile design to this day. I'm still stimulated by graceful sheet metal work and by the blending of functional design with an expression of speed and power. I particularly admire the designs of the Classic Cars of the '20's and '30's.

London Treasures
  • London Treasures
  • I don't really care for most really large urban cities, but I love London. Not only is it a photographer's and an architect's dream city, it is just stimulating to be there. It has a sense of intrigue and being current that makes you feel part of the world today. And you can enjoy the roots of history and culture at the same time. The visual richness of the city and the people of the city is almost overwhelming. I do love London.

Unique Images
  • Unique Images
  • Artists and photographers are inherently curious people; I a certainly am. And so, I explore and poke around a lot. That leads one to unique subject matter sometimes or, perhaps, to develop new methods of expression. This gallery will change and be updated from time to time with images that are of this nature. So check back again and see what is new.
